 Hot Flashes is an original, hit musical about a 5-woman band that ages from 40 to 70. The show played to sold-out houses in Portland, OR with very little advertising. Many women came back to see it several times - bringing large groups of friends - and surprisingly enthusiastic men! It's a word of mouth show that markets itself. Hot Flashes can work with a very minimal set (for the first 3 years the original production used a 5' banner, 3 stools and a small prop table), and requires just a few costume changes and grey wigs to suggest aging. The cast is small - 5 women and 1 man - and since at least 2 of the women should play instruments, the cost of a back-up band won't break your budget. Hot Flashes is a small show that can generate big laughs, a large following, and a long-running hit for your theater. |
